In 2008, I was invited to create a new piece specifically for the Manifest Hope: DC gallery, opening during inauguration week. I had ten days to paint it. I worked late into the night, racing against the calendar and anxious the entire time that the canvas wouldn't reach Washington DC before the show opened. It made it, just in time, and hung in the gallery beside work by Shepard Fairey and dozens of other artists who believed art could move a country. Years later, the curator who put the show together told me my art prints were hanging all over the staff offices in the White House. I can't confirm the President ever saw this painting himself. I like to think he did.
