Sinners began as a response to how often Black children are read as older, harder, less innocent than they are. This piece is the opposite argument, painted.
Her locs lift with the force of the jump, both arms thrown overhead, eyes closed in complete surrender to the moment. The pink of her dress moves against a current of violet, gold, and teal. Her small shoes barely touch down. There is no hesitation in her, no self-consciousness, just a child fully inside her own body and fully believed to be innocent. That belief is the whole point of this painting.
Sinners No. 3 is released as a limited edition: five signed and numbered prints, 11 x 14 with a 16 x 20 mat, and three signed and numbered 16 x 20 canvas reproductions. Both are unframed.
